A simple woven baby shirt featuring a button-through front placket, self bias-bound neckline & and front patch pockets. View A has long sleeves. View B has short sleeves. A choice of straight or rounded pockets are included.
Size range - 3-6m - 8yr
Ability level - Advanced beginner / Fairly easy
Recommended fabric - Light to mid-weight woven fabrics such as cotton voile/lawn/double gauze and linen.
Sewing techniques: self bias binding to finish the neckline, traditional 'menswear' button placket, double neatened sleeve & body hems and pocket mouth. The rest of the garment is made up of regular straight stitching & overlocked (serged) seam allowances. It is possible to french seam the shoulders & side seams if you do not have an overlocker, though the photo instructions do not cover this.
Required trims: 10mm/16L buttons (3-6m - 2yr = 5x, 3yr-6yr = 6x, 7yr-8yr = 7x), a small amount of interfacing for front placket
Sammy Shirt view B made from linen gingham & view A made from an aeroplane-print cotton double gauze is size 1yr, worn by model who is 15 months old. Model is a big baby boy with a big tummy, around the 85th percentile on the growth charts for height, 91st percentile for weight. He still fits a size 1 (Paper Doll Pattern sizing is on the generous side) but could go up to a size 2 in the next 3 months or so.
